2009 F-150 Delayed; Truck Production Cut Further

It’s a bad time to be a truck enthusiast as Ford today announced that they will be cutting truck production even more than originally planned and they will be delaying the new 2009 F-150 from shipping to dealers for at least 2 more months. Skyrocketing gas prices have people running from their trucks and SUV’s into smaller more fuel efficient cars, which is hurting domestic auto manufactures because for so long they have relied on these trucks and SUV’s to turn a profit. The Explorer and F-150 have been the flagship of Ford for so long, with only their car division, being supported by the Ford Mustang, trailing significantly behind.

There is some good news though, as Ford recently announced a huge investment by Kirk Kerkorian who recently purchased an additional 40.8 Million shared of Ford stock, at $8.50, which is significant;y higher than today’s price of $5.83. The investment is a huge boost to Ford who has seen profits and their bank account dwindling down over the past 3 years.
